Product Description

Our Boise, Idaho lumberyard supplies 2x8 x 18' #2 Kiln-Dried Douglas Fir Lumber for commercial and residential construction projects throughout the Treasure Valley. Renowned for its industry-standard strength and structural load-bearing performance, Douglas Fir provides the excellent bending stiffness required for long structural framing runs. This 18-foot material is kiln-dried to enhance dimensional stability, ensuring a predictable frame that resists twisting and bowing.

Specifications
  • Nominal Size: 2x8
  • Actual Dimensions: 1-1/2" x 7-1/4"
  • Length: 18'
  • Species: Douglas Fir
  • Grade: #2
  • Moisture Content: KD
  • Surfacing: S4S
Common Uses
  • Long-span common rafters, hip rafters, and valley assemblies for expansive residential roof pitches.
  • Continuous floor joist runs, heavy ceiling joists, and open-concept structural framing platforms.
  • Long-length structural rim joists, ledger boards, and top plate framing lines requiring fewer breaks.
Contractor & Builder Notes
  • Span Deflection Control: Given the 18-foot length, installing row-bridging or solid blocking at the mid-span points is critical to minimize floor bounce and prevent lateral rotation under structural load.
  • Crown Management: Carefully check the factory crown along the entire 18-foot edge before fastening. Install with the crown facing up to ensure the framing settles flat once dead weights are applied.

Delivery Options

  • Fast pickup at our Boise yard
  • Moffett job-site unload available
  • Combine with OSB, LVLs, I-joists, or additional framing lumber in one delivery
