Product Description

9-1/2" RFPI-40 I-Joists are supplied through our Stockton, California wholesale distribution hub for construction projects throughout the Treasure Valley. The RFPI-40 series is the industry-recognized equivalent to Weyerhaeuser TJI-230 and Boise Cascade BCI-6500 I-joists and can be used as a substitution where those joist series are specified. Featuring wider 2-5/16" LVL flanges, these engineered floor joists provide an expanded nailing surface and improved dimensional stability compared to standard narrow-flange alternatives. I-joists are commonly used to reduce shrinking, warping, and floor movement while supporting longer spans with less material weight.

Specifications
  • Depth: 9-1/2"
  • Flange Width: 2-5/16"
  • Flange Material: High-Grade LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber)
  • Series: RFPI-40
  • Certification: APA-rated engineered wood I-joist (PRI-400)
Common Uses
  • Standard residential floor systems requiring a low-profile 9-1/2" depth for ceiling height optimization
  • Multi-family floor assemblies where consistent joist depth and performance are critical
  • Roof rafter applications for smaller spans or where architectural height limits apply
  • Engineered floor systems requiring a 2-5/16" nailing surface for secure subfloor attachment
Contractor & Builder Notes
  • Engineered Precision: Unlike dimensional lumber, the 9-1/2" RFPI-40 is manufactured to be perfectly straight, eliminating the need to "crown" joists before installation.
  • LVL Flange Stability: The 2-5/16" LVL flange resists shrinking and twisting, ensuring a level subfloor and virtually eliminating the floor squeaks common with solid-sawn lumber.
  • Lightweight Handling: The RFPI-40 series offers an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, allowing for faster installation and reduced labor fatigue on the job site.
  • Technical Compliance: All field-cut holes for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) must be placed in accordance with the Roseburg allowable hole charts to maintain structural integrity.
