Product Description

The 2x10 x 20' #2 Kiln-Dried Hem-Fir is a long-length framing member used in residential construction where extended clear spans or minimal splicing are required.

Hem-Fir is widely used throughout the Northwest for its consistent grading and balanced strength characteristics. Kiln-drying improves dimensional stability, helping long-length boards install straighter and perform more predictably than green lumber.

Specifications
  • Nominal Size: 2x10
  • Length: 20'
  • Species: Hem-Fir
  • Grade: #2
  • Moisture Condition: Kiln-Dried (KD)
  • Surfacing: S4S
Common Uses
  • Residential floor joists (per IRC span tables)
  • Deck framing and long-span structural supports
  • Headers, beams, and stair components where longer lengths are required
  • New construction and residential remodel framing
Contractor & Builder Notes
  • #2 grade Hem-Fir is recognized under the IRC for structural framing when installed per code requirements
  • 20' length is commonly used for long joist runs, decks, and layouts designed to minimize joints
  • Kiln-dried lumber helps reduce shrinkage, crown, and movement after installation
  • Always verify allowable spans, loads, and spacing per IRC tables or the engineer of record
